East High School is staffed by a full time Certified School Nurse and Health Assistant. The primary role of the School Nurse is to support student learning. Please contact me whenever you have questions or concerns about your child's health.
WHAT DOES A SCHOOL NURSE DO?
***Serves as the coordinator of the Health Services Program and provides Nursing care for student illnesses, injuries, and interventions.
***Identifies, assesses, plans, intervenes, and evaluates student health concerns
***Provides Health Education to students, staff, and parents
***Participates in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development
***Provides Pediatric Nursing Procedures such as ventilators, gastrostomy feedings, tracheostomy care, catheterizations, and Diabetic care
***Provides Chronic Disease management and education
***Crisis Team participation
***Assists with School Physical Exams and Sport Physicals
***Mandated School Health Screenings - Vision and Hearing Screenings, Scoliosis and Height/ Weight Screenings.
***Assesses Mental Health Needs, provides interventions, and refers students to appropriate school staff or community agencies
***Provides Health Counseling on an individual basis
***Maintains an Immunization Record on each student
