The Central Dauphin Middle School Dodgeball Tournament is in its ninth year of action. The tournament is an opportunity for students to support a community charity through a school wide food drive. As a school, we have donated over 29,300 food items to the Cupboard at Calvary Food Pantry. This gift allows the pantry to continue providing support to local families after the busy Easter holiday.
Not only do students raise awareness and resources for the food pantry, they also participate in a hotly contested competition between other homerooms for top honors; the three most charitable homerooms in each of the grade levels wins a pizza party! The project culminates at the CDMS Dodgeball Tournament, as those who participate in the food drive earn the opportunity to spectate or register a team to compete in a high energy, fast paced dodgeball tournament.
The success of the food drive and dodgeball tournament would not be possible without the incredible efforts and cooperation of students, homeroom teachers, parents and teachers serving as tournament staff. Central Dauphin Middle School is proud of what the Dodging Hunger project has been able to accomplish and we look forward to another successful food drive and dodgeball tournament.
