WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION?

TECNOLOGY EDUCATION IS:

TEACHING THE USE OF ACCUMULATED KNOWLEDGE TO PROCESS RESOURCES TO MEET HUMAN NEEDS AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE.

 

 

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?

TECHNOLOGY IS:

THE APPLICATION OF TOOLS, MATERIALS, PROCESSES, AND SYSTEMS BY HUMANS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AND PROVIDE BENEFITS TO HUMANKIND.

 

 

WHY STUDY TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION?

  • TO ACQUIRE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING  OF OUR TECHNOLOGICAL WORLD;
  • TO BOLSTER STUDENTS' PSSA, STANFORD, AND OTHER STANDARDIZED TEST-TAKING SKILLS BY RELATING CLASSROOM LEARNING TO REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONS, ESPECIALLY IN MATH AND ENGLISH;
  • BECAUSE TECH ED IS A PDE-REQUIRED COURSE OF STUDY IN THE COMMONWEALTH'S  MIDDLE SCHOOLS

TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION STUDENTS

DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO SELECT AND CORRECTLY USE MATERIALS, TOOLS, TECHNIQUES AND PROCESSES TO ANSWER QUESTIONS, UNDERSTAND EXPLANATIONS AND SOLVE PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN REAL LIFE SITUATIONS.

 

TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION STUDENTS

DESIGN, CREATE, APPLY, EVALUATE AND MODIFY SYSTEMS OF MANUFACTURING, BIOTECHNOLOGIES, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES, AND PHYSICAL TECHNOLOGIES.
