• Gifted Program

    Educational programs are available in the Central Dauphin School District for students found to be exceptional according to the Pennsylvania State Department of Education guidelines.

    Gifted Support

    For exceptional students identified as mentally gifted as defined by the Pennsylvania State Department of Education.

    Mentally Gifted - Outstanding intellectual and creative ability the development of which requires specially designed programs or support services, or both, not ordinarily provide din the regular education program.

    Classroom teachers at all grade levels provide experiences and support services needed to enhance intellectual growth and development for the gift student.  In grades kindergarten through 12, teachers of the gifted student may provide enrichment-type activities on an itinerant basis or assist classroom teachers with program modifications.  Accelerated students meeting the criteria of their program of studies as outlined by the district will have the opportunity to take advanced placement courses as appropriate.

    Annual screenings to determine gifted eligibility are conducted by the school district.

    October:  Grades 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

    November:  Grades 3, 4

    December:  Grade 2

    January: Grades K, 1

    February: Grades K, 1

    Parents are notified by letter if their child is referred by teacher(s) for screening.

    Parents may request evaluation if they believe their child is gifted (one {1} per school year).
