Gifted Education at Linglestown Middle School:
Students who are evaluated and identified as gifted, according to Pennsylvania Chapter 16 Regulations, may require instruction and support that is matched to their unique abilities and needs.
At Linglestown Middle School, students will be provided the opportunity to work with similar-ability peers in a small-group setting during enrichment classes. During these classes, students further develop higher order thinking skills, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills through real-world problem-solving activities. Gifted students are also offered opportunities for academic competitions, clubs, and independent studies.
Mrs. Sterbinsky works with the regular classroom teachers to enhance classroom instruction through differentiation of lesson content, processes and products in individual students' strength areas.
*Please visit my CANVAS page for more information as well as enrichment activities by subject area. :)
CANVAS- ENRICHMENT & CONTINUED LEARNING
Mentally gifted—Outstanding intellectual and creative ability, the development of which requires specially designed programs or support services, or both, not ordinarily provided in the regular education program.
Three fundamental differences that distinguish gifted learners from other learners are:
The capacity to learn at faster rates, more in-depth and with greater complexity;
The capacity to find, solve, and act on problems more readily; and
The capacity to manipulate abstract ideas and make connections.
